“With jokes and gut-check punch reminiscent of early Springsteen, Vegas Water Taxi goes down brilliantly.” - Dork
"a word-of-mouth favourite, with its David Berman-esque bon mots floating upon alt-country instrumentation reminiscent of Bill Callahan’s Knock Knock-era Smog" - The Line Of Best Fit
"With his uneasy yet assured hybrid of Lou Reed and Bo Burnham, Vegas Water Taxi are soon to rocket up to the top of bills across London." - God Is In The TV
“I’m very quickly becoming a big big fan of vegas water taxi ... I think it's kind of hit after hit at the moment for Vegas water taxi" - Emily Pilbeam, BBC Radio 6
Indie-slackers vegas water taxi release new EP long time caller, out now on PNKSLM Recordings. A masterclass on deadly funny songwriting that doesn't shy away from the all-too-real sadness at it's core, long time caller paints snapshots of romantic insecurity, post-breakup spirals, and the tiny tragedies of everyday London life in storytelling that’s as self-deprecating as it is sincere. Perfectly bottling the cultural zeitgeist, VWT refracts the swaggering charm of Americana through a distinctly British prism; swapping US road trips, trucks and dive bar whiskey, for late-night Overground rides, Dalston creative director gossip and scampi fries in the Spurstowe Arms.
Making waves with each new teaser, VWT have built an impressive fan base that includes Rolling Stone UK, The Line Of Best Fit, Dork, DIY, Holler, as well as support from Radio 6's Lauren Laverne, Huw Stephens, Emily Pilbeam on New Music Fix Daily.
Recorded with Folly Group’s Louis Milburn, long time caller features band leader Ben Hambro alongside bandmates bassist/guitarist Fred Lawton, drummer/guitarist Charlie Meyrick and backing vocalist Molly Shields, plus collaborators Rhodri Brooks on pedal steel and Holly Carpenter on violin.
