Today, London-based band vegas water taxi release another taste of their upcoming EP, long time caller, coming Oct 3 on PNKSLM Recordings, with slacker-country gem "jerry".

Following previous single "chateau photo", a slice of Britainicana lamenting the social isolation from a break-up, "jerry" acts as a sudo-sequel exploring the all consuming paranoia of post-romance life. With an unfiltered relatability, Ben Hambro spills out his anxieties of a distorted vision of his perfect replacement. A playful yet pensive track, jangly guitars and upbeat drums rattle over Hambro's humour-tinged melancholy to cover the bruised breakup anthem in a bittersweet warmth.

Hambro says of the track: "I was really inspired by Sabrina Carpenter's approach to lyrics for this song. She’s amazing at being self-aware and funny while still conveying the sadness of something like a breakup. You start spiralling into paranoid thoughts about who might replace you in your ex’s life — imagining what they’re like and how they live. For a while, it completely breaks you, and in your head you almost build this AI version of their new partner. For me, that imaginary guy was “Jerry.” He was absurdly put-together — the kind of guy who worked at St John, pretended to casually quote books he’d only half-read, owned a ring light, and generally looked like he had life figured out. I could see their first few dates going perfectly."

A second taste from long time caller, out October 3, the EP picks up where their 2023 debut album things are gonna be alright left off, leaning harder into their smart, sad pop songwriting; dusted with the perfect recipe of Americana tones and British irony. Recorded with Folly Group’s Louis Milburn, the EP features bandmates bassist/guitarist Fred Lawton, drummer/guitarist Charlie Meyrick and backing vocalist Molly Shields, plus collaborators Rhodri Brooks on pedal steel and Holly Carpenteron violin, building on the band’s now-distinctive blend of wry lyricism and country-laced indie rock.
