“With jokes and gut-check punch reminiscent of early Springsteen, Vegas Water Taxi goes down brilliantly.” - Dork

"a word-of-mouth favourite, with its David Berman-esque bon mots floating upon alt-country instrumentation reminiscent of Bill Callahan’s Knock Knock-era Smog" - The Line Of Best Fit

“I’m very quickly becoming a big big fan of vegas water taxi ... I think it's kind of hit after hit at the moment for Vegas water taxi" - Emily Pilbeam, BBC Radio 6

East London country slackers vegas water taxi return with new EP first time listener - out February 6th via PNKSLM. The wry, darkly funny counterpart to October’s long time caller EP, it completes the two-part project where both EPs will combine as a full length LP, long time caller, first time listener, released the same day on 12 inch vinyl. Teaser track "ozempic" from the first time listener is out now!

Where long time caller focused on the romantic fallout of breakups and social dislocation, first time listener sees frontman Ben Hambro widen his scope. Sharply pointed pen in hand, he digs deeper to explore what it even means to crave love and authenticity in a world obsessed with image and pop individualism.

Lead single "ozempic" is a sardonic yet irresistibly catchy meditation on body dysmorphia and the absurdity of contemporary self-image culture. Hambro’s tongue-in-cheek wish list runs through an inner dialogue of millennial panic, all set to jangling guitars and a winking country rhythm. Equally self-deprecating and painfully relatable, VWT’s new era of tracks wraps social commentary in a trademark mix of humour and heart.

On the single, Hambro says: “I’ve always struggled with the way I look, and I probably always will. I’m fascinated by the use of beauty as a currency within society, and how often people will be dishonest about the fact that they will go to great lengths to achieve the leverage that it provides. It’s hilarious and tragic seeing loads of celebrities now all looking identical through the jabs, even though the body positivity movements only just in the rearview mirror. Sometimes it’s extremely valid to be cynical about these things. People are fickle”.

Making waves with each new teaser, VWT have built an impressive fan base that includes Rolling Stone UK, The Line Of Best Fit, Dork, DIY, Holler, as well as support from Radio 6's Lauren Laverne, Huw Stephens, Emily Pilbeam on New Music Fix Daily.

Recorded with Folly Group’s Louis Milburn, long time caller, first time listener features band leader Ben Hambro alongside bandmates bassist/guitarist Fred Lawton, drummer/guitarist Charlie Meyrick and backing vocalist Molly Shields, plus collaborators Rhodri Brooks on pedal steel and Holly Carpenter on violin.
