Today sees Oslo’s much-loved indie four-piece Veps unveil their biting new single ‘Didgeridoo’ - the latest glimpse into their evolving sonic world via Swedish label PNKSLM Recordings.
Arriving hot on the heels of summer single ‘My Champagne Socialist’, the new track puts a sharper edge to the band’s characteristic warmth. Built on a playful instrumental the four-piece first pieced together before any lyrics existed, the track bristles with tension, catharsis and the frenetic chemistry that has defined Veps since their early teens.
“We wanted to make a song that felt like the edge of a breaking point.” explain the band, “Didgeridoo is a semi-ironic way of essentially telling someone they could’ve gone to the other side of the globe and figured out their stuff, instead of messing things up back home.”
Recorded at Oslo’s Studio Paradiso with producer Marcus Forsgren, ‘Didgeridoo’ lands following 2024’s critically praised sophomore album Dedicated To, a record that cemented the band’s growing international reputation for emotionally sharp songwriting, magnetic chemistry and a knack for turning personal moments into universal indie anthems. With their recent releases, the four-piece continue to expand their sound while never letting go of the honesty, wit and melodic brightness at their core.
Formed in Oslo by best friends Helena, Laura, June and Maja, Veps have been making music together since they were 14. Signing to Brooklyn’s Kanine Records as teenagers, they’ve played revered showcases like The Great Escape, Reeperbahn and By:Larm, as well as Norway’s legendary Øyafestivalen. Their debut EP Open The Door and first album Oslo Park earned them heavy playlisting from Spotify and radio support from BBC 6Music, NRK P3, Amazing Radio and more.
